The Hackamore offers a unique array of Rio Grand turkey hunting opportunities. We book a limited number of Spring Turkey Hunts on each of our ranches. Our spring turkey hunting success rate is high, and adult toms average in the 20 pound class with beards from 8 to 10 inches. We did take a 21 pound tom last spring!

You can hunt with our guides or go at it alone! Hunters will be placed in areas of peak turkey activity. Most turkey hunters love to get at it early, listen to the gobblers shake the leaves off the roost trees, and hopefully have the birds in full strut at 25 yards. And this all happens before breakfast!
Spring 2004

When the hens are still with the toms early in the season, or they aren’t leaving the toms early in the morning for the egg laying and nesting ritual, we then have great luck hunting the toms mid-day or even in the afternoon.

We prefer one hunter per guide, but if you are with a buddy, co-worker, or family member, we can put two of you on one guide. This is not a problem as long as you know each other.

Spring 2004

We love the father/son, father/daughter hunts! We will also cater to the mother/son mother/daughter hunts. An occasional husband even enjoys hunting with his wife! No experience required.

Whether you are an experienced turkey hunter on a “grand slam” or just a beginner, you will feel at home on the Hackamore...
