In Memory of

Mark Mayo was the owner, along with his wife, Billie, of both the Ellington Ranch and the Maple YL Ranch. Both of these working ranches continue to sustain the Mayo Family’s passion for running a first class cattle operation and are host to one of the premier Black Angus cattle herds in the country. Mark was an avid horseman who raised only Arabian horses on the Maple YL Ranch. The Maple YL remains home to dozens of Mark’s Arabians whose pedigrees can be traced back hundreds of years.

Mark was also an accomplished artist, whose signature on his artwork included “Horse Ears” centered near the bottom of his paintings. He used to say that he “Saw everything from the back of a horse.” Two of his works are displayed below.

Mark touched the lives of many with his love of God, family, friends, and the cowboy life. Mark’s vision was Hackamore, and this site is dedicated to his memory.
