Fishing

The Hackamore offers seasonal fishing at the Ellington Ranch, on the waters of the North Canadian River. The fishing success is based on seasonal rainfall, and in most springs, the fishing for channel catfish, flathead, and bullhead catfish is good. Occasionally, sand bass run up the river from Canton Lake and can be caught when water conditions are right.

Whether you are staying at the Hackamore headquarters for a business retreat, birding for the weekend, or just out for a getaway, a try at the fishing on the river makes for a memorable outing.

For those wanting additional excitement, you can put on the life vests and try your hand at floating the river. If you like, you can make the two mile float trip through the Ellington Ranch. For boating or rafting enthusiasts, this would be considered quite tame!
